“The future is here. It’s just not evenly distributed yet.” — Science-fiction writer William Ford Gibson wrote this back in the 1980′s.

The signs of the future are all around us.   The evidence is everywhere if we will only open our eyes.  There are always clues, but it isn’t until much later that most of the world grasps their significance.  Meanwhile, the innovators who are busy inventing our future live in a place of their own.  They see and act on ideas invisible to others.  But after those ideas are accepted, and then adopted by the public, it’s hard to envision life without them.  Take running water, electricity, or the radio, or the telephone, and of course, the Internet.  My youngest daughter doesn’t remember life without a computer hooked up to the internet.  To her, a computer is like a toaster…everybody’s got one.

Why do I bring this up?
